Studio Policy
Lessons are usually 30 minutes weekly (sometimes 45 minutes weekly for more advanced students). I recommend committing to study for at least six months. The first lesson is complimentary as it allows me to get a feel for the student’s skill level and their level of interest. It also gives you a chance to observe my teaching style.
Lessons are paid monthly by the 7th of each month. Payment methods include zelle, personal check, or other pre-approved arrangements. Books and other materials (flashcards, games, metronome) are not included in the lesson cost. Contact me for current lesson pricing.
You are signing up for a weekly timeslot in my studio, committing to make that time work each week for your child’s lessons. Lessons will generally follow the school calendar January – May and September – December. For the summer, you may still keep your weekly time slot. However, I am more flexible with vacations, etc. I only require a minimum of 6 lessons from June – August. Obviously, you are welcome to take more lessons, depending on my schedule. These 6 lessons do not roll over into September.
Before the beginning of the month, please let me know of any rescheduling needs that you may have (usually due to vacations and events). I will do my best to give you some rescheduling options for any days you cannot do. However, if none of the available options work for you, the missed lesson will be counted as if the student had taken it.
Consistent practice and faithful attendance at lessons is required. Students should come to lessons neat, with nails trimmed and hands washed. The student agrees to arrive at each lesson punctually, well-prepared, and with all necessary materials.
Schedule a consistent time for home practice. To help your child develop good practice habits, I recommend that early beginners practice 10-15 minutes for 5-6 days a week. Later beginners (after a year or two of lessons) will gradually increase practice time to 30 minutes a day. Practice should be part of a regular routine. Figure out what works best for your child and make that time important.
Encourage progress! Many small steps throughout the year yield great results! Your support as a parent is so helpful. You are welcome to attend lessons at any time. Please check your child’s notebook weekly for helpful info.
